Now is the time to reveal the delights inside our 2023 Advent Calendar. With 5 new and exclusive kits, and lots of other goodies along the way, there is a lot of fun to be had, opening the daily treats and taking time out to bead through December.
So, what was in the box?
That’s a lot of value for your money.
Each kit was broken down so that the components were opened up over several days, and you didn’t know what you would make until you opened the pattern. There was a 3-strand key ring (daisy chain stitch), Poinsettia ring (brick stitch and right angle weave), Merry Xmas gift tag (brick stitch), beads to make 2 LED tea light covers or napkin rings (tubular netting stitch), and beads to make 2 x Stem glass charms (netted Swarovski rivolis).
As well as the kits, there was a bead mat, scissors, scoop, pencil, needles, beading thread in 3 colours, flip top boxes, and last, all secretly packaged in the A4 size sturdy project box.
It doesn’t end on 24th December though. The sturdy project box with essential beading tools and flip top boxes, is perfect for future storage and beading projects on-the-go!
So, what will be in the box for 2024? As yet, even I’m not sure, although I do have a few ideas…..
The third design in my Festive Tea Light range (Love Hearts) launched in 2022 and I have now published the pattern for the hearts separately, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
The Have A Heart pattern is available to download for £4.50, or you can order a printed copy for the same price (our usual P&P charges apply).
The heart measures about 1.75mm (3/4″) wide and about 1.75mm (3/4″) high, and can be used for many things, including ear rings, key chains, bag charms. I’m sure you will have other wonderful ideas, and feel free to share on our Facebook page.
This 8-page pattern introduces tubular peyote with herringbone increases. Full instructions with diagrams, photographs are provided, but previous experience of general beading and peyote stitch in particular is essential. You will mainly use size 11 seed beads in 2 colours with 1 x size 8 seed bead in the contrast colour for the tip. The heart also works well using size 8 seed beads, with 1 x size 6 for the tip.
The Love Hearts pattern is £9.95, and available as a full kit (including pattern) for £21.50.

Our delivery of patterns direct from the US have arrived safely and I have updated the website, so all patterns are now available.
We will be working on the Delica and Fringe Bead Packs over the next few days, and will restock as soon as we can – if we have the beads!
We have put another order in to our bead supplier, and almost half of the Delica colours we need are out of stock, but we are doing our best to get colours back in stock.
At last, I’m pleased that we have finally got DB010 and DB202 back in stock. Lots more of DB010 and not as much of DB202 than we ordered, but its a start!
It takes me and Gordon several days to weigh the beads, make the boxes, and get everything all wrapped up, but the next batch of Advent Calendars is now available for immediate delivery, using Royal Mail Tracked 48 service at no extra charge.

On this workshop, you will learn (1) how to do flat, even count peyote stitch using size 8 seed beads, (2) how to zip up the beads to make a tube, suitable for a ring, and (3) how to read basic word charts. You will then start to make this bright, stripey bracelet using size 11 seed beads, with a beaded toggle clasp.
